My Omega's whacked!

I need some help; there's something wrong with my machine. I took it out the other day and couldn't get it to ground balance. I'd do the ground grab thing and it wouldn't work. I'm getting a loud noise whenever the coil is near the ground and when I move it in any way. The ground balance numbers are in the high 90's, something I've never encountered; they're usually in the 50's and 60's. I've tried this in several different locations, and get the same problem. In disc mode, I get lots of erratic high tones. One strange thing I've noticed is that when I touch the metal sleeve where the coil's cord attaches to the unit (the thing you turn to tighten it), I get a low volume, high-pitched sound. I'm not sure if it's relevant, but this all happened after I switched from the 11 inch coil to the 5 inch and back again. I've tried switching back and forth, but nothing's working. Any help would be appreciated.

does it work all right other than ground balance. my t-2 once wouldn't ground balance but you could hunt all right. it was raining and once it dried out it starting doing the ground balance fine. hope its something that simple. good luck.

I guess you could say it's working, but it's extremely noisy and gives false signals. It sounds as if it might be over-sensitive to ground. The high GB numbers and the sensitivity of the coil attacher have me worried, since the machine was fine for several months.

my t2 does the same thing?First fast grab is 90(didn't do it for first 4-6 months just recently started) i just keep holding the fast grab and moving around till i get it in the lower sixties, after that i usually don't have a problem with it, i think you can double check it in the all-metal mode the numbers should be close or the same. Possibly loose connection, metal flake in coil cover, adjusting 2 temperature change Ive been trying 2 set it outside and on while i gear up, doesn't seem 2 help, maybe needs re-calibrated I'm still finding the goodies though! happy hunting grounds 2all

Re check your connector to box. Mine does this especially when it's real wet or ground is saturated with water.

I've checked the connector to box as well as looked for dirt in the cable; no luck. I emailed the company a couple of days ago, but haven't heard anything back. I'm getting kinda antsy, not knowing whether to send it in or not, and not being able to use the machine.

So I emailed the company and finally got a response, but not until posting my concerns above. On the 26th, a gentleman asked for info., which I gave. He emailed twice that day, but I haven't heard anything since. Am I being impatient?
