My Part of The Woods Part 2

Believe it or not, I have hundreds of pictures I could post but the 'limit' on size stops me from posting. Yes...I could 'shrink' them but then when I want to print a 5" x 7" or an 8" x 10", they'd be too small.
It would be nice if the forum has software that allowed you to post any size picture and shrank them to fit the forum. That way our personal pictures wouldn't be compromised. Just a thought.

Again, GREAT PICTURES! We have the animals, but aren't usually able to make the pics in the snow! lol

Thanks again, Martin, for some more beauiful pics! Love the colors and scenery again! Sure have some good photographers on our forum! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

I know what you mean. THAT is exactly why I don't post more pictures. Over all, it would be nice if the forum was more user friendly. I love this forum but it would be so nice if it was easier to post pictures and post comments, etc. Guess Facebook has spoiled me when it comes to having the ease of hassle free posting!!!

I resize my full size pics in paint. I make them to 50 or 60% each direction. Then save as coin 2 or whatever. That way I still have my originals. I have only taken smaller email type pics 1 tijme and that was for something else.

VERY NICE pics! What type of camera do you have? I understand what you are saying about resizing. Drives me CRAZY! Most of my good pics can't be posted because of sizing issues....I can take them down to the absolute worst quality possible and they are still too large :(

Hey Liz, I use a Fijifilm Finepix S6000fd w/a standard lens, which is 28 - 300. The camera resembles a 35mm in many respects & has 10.7Opical Zoon & 6.3 Mega Pixels. However, with the lens set at 300, I must get fairly close to get a good picture of birds and small mamals. It's a user friendly camera w/a lot of capability; super macro to super telephoto. Fuji now has an updated model of the S6000fd with greater capability but it's not cheap.

Hi Liz! Like Jeff has already posted.....if you will send your original pic to the Paint Program and reduce it 60% or less and then save it to your picture file or Photo Gallery, it should be the right size to upload to the forum! I try to make mine 200 KB or less instead of the MB's they show when loaded into my Computer from my Digital Camera! Sometimes I have I try more than once to get it small enough, but I make sure I always use the original with the MBs! Hope this helps! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

Well people...I tried resizing my pictures in 'Paint'. Some of them took and some of them did not. I wish there was a picture software program, that was easy to use, to resize my pictures. I looked into Picasa but that program doesn't offer resizing. I can crop the photos in Picasa but cannot resize them in that program.

Martin, I think Doug in TN has a good program for photograpy but I don't remember what it was called, although he tried to tell me so I could use it....but I'm rather dense when it comes to understanding and working on anything I am not use to doing! I've found the paint program really easy now that I've leaned how to reduce my pics on it, the only thing I have to remember is when I save the pic from Paint, I need to name it differently from the original or I will lose the original, which sometimes is needed to resize some more! If I use one that is already resized, I don't always get good results and like a pattern the new one is always the right shape, but continue using a cut pattern from it and then reusing that cut pattern, ends up with the dress or ? pattern being out of kilter or with pictures out of focus! I hope this helps! You can PM Doug and he will probably tell you about the photo program he uses! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

I don't use Picasa but you should be able to resize photos with it. I think they use different terminology in their program. Picasa is one of the best free photo editing programs from what I understand. I use Photoshop Elements 7.0. You can buy earlier versions on E-bay pretty cheap and it is easy to crop, edit and resize photos.

...to a tutorial for resizing in Picasa. It is WAY too complicated for me.

But, if you can figure it out and don't mind all of the extra steps to resize it is cheaper than buying new software.

Doug, I use the same version of photoshop. I still have trouble getting my files small enough. Many times I am starting with a file size of 2 + MB and even though I take the quality down to zero and crop, I still can't make them small enough! Frustrating. Of course, if the software came with directions it would help! My last laptop came with picasa software and I have to say photoshop is MUCH better.
