My T2 repair bill:shocked:

SkiWhiz

Just got off the phone with Felix at First Texas, can't remember what all needs to be repaired on my T2 but the bill is going to be $180.00 plus change. I have bought many good detectors for $200.00 or less. Sure hope the T2 is going to be a good detector for all the money that I have in it. Looks like I will be selling the 5x10 NEL coil to help fund the bill that I wanted to keep.

The fella that I bought the T2 from is paying for half of the repair, thought that was very nice.

Nice yes..but if he sold it broken..he maybe should have paid in full..Unless you knew what you were buying. Did you know ??

Your such a nice person Steve. Always doing something for other detectorists. I hate to see you done wrong..

I'm also curious to see who the seller was because I had a deal going pin a t2 and somebody jumped in on my listing and bought out from under me....not sore about it just curious

Thanks for the kind words my friend, the guy I bought the T2 from is a standup guy, been on the forums for awhile. I do not believe that he knew about the issue, it could of been done in shipping who knows. I didn't ask him to chip in on the repair bill he done it out of the kindness of his heart, great bunch of folks on these detecting forums.

I can assure you that the T2 I have is not the one you are referring to. The fella that I bought the T2 bought it from another forum member, both of these folks are good guys & would not of done anything like that.

No problem, I have since ordered an omega 8500. Not much info on it out there. I intend to put it through some thorough testing. Gonna be my first teknetics machine although I have owned fishers and loved them. Good luck with the t2, hope it comes back to ya dialed in for a great detecting year. Hh

As long as your happy. That is what is important.. Yes many, many fine people here on the forum.

Good luck with it when you get it back. It's a great machine I never had mine long enough to learn it.

Thanks buddy, it actually arrived at my house Friday afternoon, problem was is that I was at work and not home to sign for it. So now I have to wait to Monday to get it, I will be at work but will have someone here to get it. Good news is it suppose to warm up next week into the 50's. Can't wait to give it a try.

Hey SkiWhiz, it sounds like you might be up near my neighborhood (northwest MI). I have a classic t2 and was wondering how well you like using it in our soil type. I don't know if there is something wrong with mine, but it gets chatty a lot when I'm using high sensitivity. Does yours do the same thing? Thanks.

I am in northern New York about 12 miles south of the Canadian border (Ontario,Canada). I have not used my T2 yet but will post my thoughts of it when I get to use it.

Basically you have answered your own question, its a great temptation with the the T2 to crank up the sensitivity and it will start going 'crazy' if you reduce it down it will start purring like a cat, most folks when they get a T2 crank the settings right up and all it does is make it a 'not enjoyable' machine too use.I have had mine for many years and i very rarely take mine over 80 and still get amazing depth out of it.

Albeit i dont live across the pond as i am UK based but the T2 is my all time favourite machine, incredible versatile machine.

When your disc. is set on 10 or under ,,, 50 or over, it kicks it in a boost also and she gets a little chatteryer (is that a word?) If you want a little peace and quiet, start with your disc. set between 11 and 49.

Thanks for all the replies and advice guys. I have read about the "boost at 50" and was trying it out. I know my biggest problem is not having enough time on the machine to really get used to all the possible setting combinations. I mainly hunt old logging sites with my brother in law and he usually uses a minelab explorer. We have to wade through a lot of iron. I was trying a 50/50 setting with 3 tones. Any good suggestions? Also, I may have a problem with my 5" coil cuz I can wiggle the wire where it connects (at both ends) and get lots of chirping. Is that normal? Thanks again.

i think you only get the boost at 10 or 50. when I hit 50 it starts to chatter but it quits as I go higher.

Thanks Chuck. I knew about boost at 50 but not at 10. I guess I'll try that in the iron fields, and if it still chatters I'll just stay off 10, 50, and anything above 80.
Happy hunting to all you guys.
