my thoughts on ABATE.......

My neighbor-who is also a biker,like me-Is a big supporter of ABATE;the organization that has been lobbying to get mandatory motorcycle helmet use in Michigan banned for years...I do NOT support ABATE;and I will tell you all why....They claim that helmet usage does not lower the chance of severe head injury rate much;and, therefore: the use of helmets should be voluntary....OK,now I do believe we should have the right to choose to wear helmets as riding adults;thats fine with me-HOWEVER-I WILL NEVER ride voluntarily without a helmet;because in the summer of '72,I came off a m/c at 70 mph on a gravel road;HEAD-FIRST-and a helmet saved my life...SO:everybody out there can cite facts and figures about death rates and injury rates wearing/not wearing a helmet-If they get the helmet law changed,good for them,and all that choose to ride bald(no helmet);it will be your choice-As for ME;helmet-wearing shall I BE.....

Good for you, wh Steve for using common sense and it is your choice to not be brain-damaged or killed! If they choose not to wear a helmet than that is their choice, but the problem is if they get completely bedridden without finances to pay for themselves then the people in that State will need to support them! But you know many choose unwisely and others choose wisely and yet the Gov makes laws to protect those who don't choose wisely, as if they are little children under the protection of the State and/or Federal Government! Our rights to choose are slowly being taken away......and we citizens of voting age are not children and the Gov isn't our mother and father, but most who govern us like to think so!
Our Father in Heaven gives us godly wisdom and sense while also protecting us when we use both in the name of Jesus! Praise God and Thank You, Jesus for Your mercy and grace to Your own and even those who are yet to be saved! Amen!
