My Trying out my new ExpII

Just recieved my Explorer II last Friday. In between the rains here in california, I try and sneak out between the showers to get into our large yard to see if I can anything. My back yard is so trashy. I know there is silver out there since the house was built in the early 1950's. I have been finding alot of bullet cases. I found a 22 case about 14" down.
I think I have to build a test garden to better refine my detecting skills. The only problem is I can't find any clear ground and will have to spend some time to clear out the junk to get some clean ground. I'm guessing I need to clear it, correct?
I have been trying to use the out-of-box settings to search in my back yard but can't even put the coil down without hitting several targets.
I know that I am suppose to start simple but think I have to move to advanced mode and program the detector only to accept silver coins until the weather gets a little better and I can get to cleaner grounds.
Your thoughts are welcome

do what you think is right take some silver and learn to program your xs thats the main thing thats so great about the machine
