Just as it takes time to learn your machine it takes time to develop relationships with other forum members, over time the responses to your posts will increase. The fact is most members lurk on the forums, reading the posts but hesitant to make their own post for fear of looking dumb or uninteresting. Kudos to you for diving right in and finding out how deep the water is; as a fellow 3rd born my hat goes off to you. Also realize that a lot of the members have known each other for quite a while and have a history together so it is just easier for them to respond to each others posts, a lot of the members who post also physically hunt together so it just makes sense that they extend that comaraderie from thebeach through to the forum posts.
I've felt out of place myself on occassion when I first started posting as I am in Bermuda and far removed from the American MDing scene that dominates here. However, you will be hard pressed to find a more friendly, fun and helpful bunch of pirates anywhere.
So hang in there thirdborn from Ozz and welcome to the forum.

Thanks hunter it doesn't take much to make a pal feel better thank you for that. As you say one does feel really dumb asking questions but i have had great answers from this forum too. Half of what i say is tongue in cheek but cptrs can come across a bit hard at times even though it's not meant that way, i have heard that in other forums too.

I will hang in there i don't need big rewards re- detecting i like the suspense of it just as much. Are there any females in this forum at all then i won't have to bug the boys.

Regards Maureen.

Angela is in Oz, Finncat55 is in VaBeach, Bia is East coast USA, Gulfhuntress is in Galveston and there are plenty more ladies swinging detectors out there. Don't give us boys the cold shoulder though, egalitarianism and all that, right?
We await the pics of the nut from your next hunt, I'm sure it will be a good one!
Welcome Aboard, Matey!

Thanks hunter it feels good to be included.I am lucky to live ten minutes from the beach and can go everyday if i like.I have chosen the quiet areas for now but plan to go to the busy ones next week. Around August i will take a trip to Kalgoorlie ( gold fields) have family living there who knows i may strike.

Regards Maureen..

You'll find the loot where the greatest concentration of people are, plus the more valuable loot will be where affluent people swim or play in the water. The old swimming beaches could always potentially produce as well. The mine never really get empty. Eventually, it comes close enough to the top and you give it a scan and BAM! LOOT! Keep us posted.GH
