I am planning on going to try my luck there this weekend. Any one been there or have tips for setting up the EX II for this would be great.

haven't been to Myrtle beach but have some settings for ya.
Try Sens Manual 20-28 (high as it will go without falsing)
IM@ -10 to -14
fast and deep 'ON"
Accept coins and jewelry
Gain @ 8
Threshold just audible
I was punching quarters at over a foot deep with this setting. Allows you to go from dry sand to wet sand to black sand without problems. Good luck!
 
all joking aside...
On Minelab, jewelry accept covers rings, bracelets, and necklaces.
I don't want to dig anymore pulltabs than I have too.
Also, I reject crown caps. All gold rings that I have tested have given me a good signal - regardless of size with these settings.
why has your experience been different?
