Near fall weather yesterday for hunt #50

zeekeys

New member
Temperature plummeted to 86 degrees and humidity dropped below 4 figures. After 3 days of spending quality time with the wife in doors, she insisted I get out. :argue: Had a nice hunt, stayed in the shade and not a long hunt. The F70 showed it is a really good coin machine again. Thanks for looking....Z

Thank you for your post.
Ive been doing some resurch on one of the counties in central lower michigan. Havent hunted ther yet. ive done some google satelite and historical resurch if you want to get together and hit it. I found where there was a old high school that was tore down and now is a farmer feild. and where there were homes that were tore down and now they are part of a state park. let me know.

thanks again!
school was tore down in 1958

Nice clad count there Zeek! Sure is nice to get onto some targets in a short time! :clapping: Rob, Thanks for the offer..that place sounds like it could be silver dollar city for sure, very cool that you would share it, but you should make a solo run to check it out a little first...if you find any silver coins, just re bury them shallow and THEN give us a call! Good research work, and a nice hunt for Zeek as well! :clapping:

Man I live in Georgia it got up to 107 yesterday!! You would need a jack hammer to dig in the dirt here!! I have been hunting tot lots mainly and it seems that someone else is to!! I don't find no dimes or quarters but they disc out nickles and foil and I pulled up a thin 10k ladies ring last Saturday!! I love people who run their disc to high!! :detecting:

Good hunt again Zeek. Some kind of heat around for sure. 82 here at 5:30 this morning on its way into the 100's again. Surprisingly, I am still finding some fields that I can dig on. Shady spots, around big trees and places with thick grass. Flat, sun bakes area's are concrete. Huntings over, though, by about 9a. At least for me anyway. Otherwise you will need a shower curtain over your car seat to keep it dry. Everybody be careful out there and think FALL. Hunt 51, Z will have some gold. HH jim tn

Yeah, I just got home at 9am too...even cracked a beer in Zeeks honor! Figured after a fruitless morning working the sand behind 50 other guys, I needed the carbs! Go Zeek Go! We are pulling for you, c'mon big heap o gold!

I guess we are all experiencing the same in weather conditions. Jim I don't even try open fields. I think someone has been pouring concrete in all the open fields. My Craftman screwdriver will not even go into the ground. I stay in the shade and I really don't dig anything over 2" anymore. I went to the beach thinking a lot of people would be there. Not so. There was 4 blankets on the beach with maybe 15 people there and that was almost noon when I left with 19 coins.
Rob in the late 60's I worked for a survey company and spent 2 months in downtown Detroit. Went house to house, yard to yard checking gas lines for the gas company. A lot of old houses there.
88junior I always find pennies in tot lots. They notch out pull tabs. I will dig pennies all day in tot lots that is fine with me. Most of the time I just slide my foot and there the coin is. Also find quarters, dimes, nickels, and jewelry near the poles because they are using the wrong coil. Why should I tell them? Thanks guys and stay cool and hunt with care. I would like to see more posts from all of you....Z

After 48 years of marriage don't let the door hit you in the butt sounds familiar....be careful out there local just had a heat stroke incident.....

The type of fields I am referring to saw a good bit of activity back in the 40's-mid 80's period and then do to military down sizing were turned over to the local city. The city made a park and ball fields out of one big area and the rest, which are a few acres up to many, have remained much as they were back in the mentioned era. The city mows them every couple of weeks and the grass/weeds are thick and quite easy to push a digger down through their root system. Fortunately, a few brown spots that may show up are not a problem. During the summer months around here I seldom venture onto a city park or school yard unless it is to detect for recent surface drops. I do hit some tot lots from time to time. I like easy coinage just like the next guy and ever so often a nice piece of jewelry crops up. Take care, all. HH jim tn
