Need a CW relic hunting partner

sekypaleo

New member
I was a relic hunter for many years, I stopped 10 years ago and recently (Dec 2009) got back into it. I live in Cincinnati and do most of my hunting in SE Ky and east and north central Tenn. My parents live in SE ky so I know that area very well. I only get to relic hunt down there about one weekend a month but sometimes take little vacations to hunt also. My father used to hunt with me but because of his age is mostly unable to now. My wife detects too, but refuses to hunt in the woods as it "creeps"her out. I really do not like to hunt by myself, so I would like to meet some like minded CW relic hunters. I am not out to steal your sites, nor do I seek someone to steal mine. Do not contact me if you only want to use me to get new hunting spots and detect them behind my back. Unfortunately there are way to many people like this. Greed is a terrible thing. On the other hand if you love history and the thrill of the hunt and would like to detect with someone who does also, then shoot me an email. I am a hardcore researcher and have quite a few leads I would like to investigate. Bill

I also do hunt relics in northern KY...never hunted central Ky..but would like too

Bill, you are talking my language now! I would love to go out detecting with you! I just now 1:30am EST got out of the shower, as I just returned from Perryville, KY CW relic hunting. I found some more goodies that I will post in the morning (too tired now to get the camera going) but found my first silver coin! :clapping: I am flexible hunting (still looking for a real job) and would enjoy "hitting some new areas" with you and such. I will try to shoot ya an email tomorrow.

pulltab-yeah, but you can go tornado hunting out there! Something I can't do much of back here in the midwest.

Kansas was hot seat before the Civil war starting in the 1850's with abolitionist and pro-slavery turmoil..and during the civil war there was a lot of guerrilla fights on the Kansas Missouri boarder.. There are some irregular Confederate cavalry camps in Kansas..

Look some of this terms up and research

Jayhawkers
Red Legs
Boarder Ruffians
Bushwackers
Missouri Partisan ranger's

There's more the list goes on...I believe if you get into some deep research you could really get into some untouched cavalry spots.. there's Also 1840's pre-war dragoon camps in your state also I would love to research and Hunt..( Living in Georgia makes that hard for me:wiggle:)

I don't mean this post in a negative way and you might already know about what I have said but I would love to see you get on some spots and show us some relics out that way!

I love seeing what research can do...The best finds are yet to come I firmly believe that!

Good luck on you're hunts!!

sekypaleo - I live just north of Cincy in Liberty Township and would enjoy hunting with you - I'll even drive! Probably won't be favorable conditions until spring. Please respond to jswisshelm@fuse.net.
