need advice on gold

i have an mxt and a 4x6 dd coil i am looking for gold but havent found any when i do dig it usually dissapears. I talked to a guy named gerry from idaho and he was pretty cool but he said to come and take his training course i wish, Can anybody give some advice on gold and recovering objects it would help alot. P.S i do know how to prospect just not nuggrtshoot

... then three other things are needed. The first is KNOWLEDGE about nuggetshooting, which is a far more complicated topic than newbies realize. If I may be so bold as to say so, the most informative "how to" book on nuggetshooting, which contains the most info on technique, is "Advanced Nuggetshooting - How to Prospect for Gold with a Metal Detector." A personally autographed copy will cost you a mere $8.00, postpaid. The Second thing you'll need is really high quality, high decibel output prospecting headphones. The Koss E-Series 9000's, TD-80's, TD-81's, and the Kellyco private label Accusound versions are the most popular with serious nuggetshooters. Thirdly, LOCATION is critical for nugget hunting. If there are no nuggets where you are detecting, you won't find any. Research will help locate such areas. Hope this helps; email me if you want more info. HH jim

Maybe you can't afford the time or travel to get trained by Gerry in Idaho, but it would be about the best thing you could do.
I bought a detector from Gerry and had two day's training at Rye Patch, Nevada. I found 6 small nuggets. It was money and time very well spent to learn to nugget shoot.
It's understandable that many can't make the opportunity to do that, though.
Another great book, is "Zip Zip - Mastering Your Nugget Detector" by Larry Sallee. The "revised edition" is the latest. Mine is highlighted and underlined through and through. Get the book, read & study, and you'll be way ahead.
