Need help identifying religious pendant?

New member
I believe I have found a religious pendant, possibly Spanish? It is made of aluminum and is a little larger than a half dollar. The obverse has Santa Barbara Proteggi I Nostri Operai around the boarder. The reverse has Pirotecnico R. E. Capua at the bottom with 1940-XIX below the shield. I could not find any information on the internet about it. Any help about this would be greatly appreciated.

Find someone who can read Italian to be sure, but from what I was able to find, Saint Barbara is the patron Saint of Artillerymen. Proteggi (Protect) Nostri (our) Operai (?) The only definition I can find for this is a group of Priests who went to work at hard labor jobs during the war. Factories and such. Many men were now soldiers.

Pirotecnico (fireworks) Capua is a city in Italy. WWII started in 1939. If Italy got involved right away the year 1940 would fit. So I'm guessing is was a medallion worn someone who either was or was related to soldiers in WWII.

Thanks, I was not sure about what country, Spanish and Italian are a little similar. Not sure when Italy entered the war.
