Hi KB - And welcome aboard - lots of experience here. Mike in Mich sure does know his machine so ask him. I use a Fisher 1266 so no help there. Good luck - post up what you dig, Steve in so az

and knows more about Minelabs than me...he probably knows people with Minelabs down your way who can help you out. Want to welcome you to the forum. Glad to have another Brother in Christ here.

First, thanks for the welcome, and secondly my PC and typing skills are far from passing grade. To me "practice makes perfect"or lack their of,is probably the greatest part of it.I think there are more relic verses coin sites in "my neck of the woods",but I want to be alot better at finding deeper good targets in this mineralized heavy red dirt down here. (In the center of the Kings mountain gold belt)Thanks for any tips. KB

I would start in Digital mode. I can also send you my custom program. Remember this tip! The best discrimination is your digging tool! If you don't dig it you will never know for sure what it was! :)
When digging sites where you know you could turn up some oldies, ya got to dig almost every target. Even if you know it is a pulltab or a shot gun shell, it just may be a good button, or maybe a gold coin. If it says it is over 6" on the machine dig it no matter what! I use disc. depending on the type of site I am on.
When I say I use disc. I mean I still hear every target, but I decide based on what my display says.
Send me a private message and we can discuss this at length! :)

God bless.

Mike

Welcome to the CMD Forum, KB! Very glad to have you with us and hope you get to learn the Minelab soon and will be able to find some good coins and great relics. Mike in Mich is the one who knows the Minelab and a few others on here do also, so you can get lots of good advice from Mike or them. When I detected, I used a White's Spectrum XLT and so I know nothing about a Minelab and couldn't dig that deep if I had one! :) The older I get the less holes I want to dig! God Bless and Good Luck on finding lots of goodies!
