Need help to ID lever action carrier block

upnorth

New member
I found this lever action carrier block in a field close to an 1880's North West Mounted Police site. I believe that it's from a Winchester. The closest that I've seen to this piece is the Winchester 1873, but it's not an exact match. The mounties used the big bore 45-75 1876 or Centennial Winchester. I can't find a pic of the Centenials carrier block so this piece is still a mystery. Any help in an ID is appreciated , thanks.

You may get some answers on the Treasure Depot site.

They talk a lot on bullets and and gun finds.

I zapped the carrier block and it revealed that it is indeed from the 1876 Centenial, in 45-75 caliber.
