got my new sef 10x12 friday evening--went out sat morning and did'nt do very good...set the se ferrous sens at 28 all metal, did the noise cancel at knee high and started swinging --coil is light and untiring but my problem was the cursor would stick in upper left corner w/only 1 fourth showing.as long as i was moving the cursor stayed stuck---had to stop,,lift coil up to allow cursor to re-set even though i was hearing different tones
--then i stopped,,lower sens to 18 and gain to 6..got going and same problem again.i thought something wrong with se---so i removed the 10x12 and put the 4.5x7 back on...now all is well with se..anyone have any info to help in a case like this???have'nt heard of anyone else having that problem..any help appreciated...:surprised::minelab::usaflag:

I'm just going on a hunch that Ellis could be your sir name? maybe wrong but I'm an explorer user and new to this forum.I've gotten some very use able info to say the least. If Ellis family history is of interest I have compiled a good bit, starting from John 1. William Ellis built ST. Andrews Chapel in Sudersville,Md in1730 for a fee of 21,000 lbs of tobacco. Sounds like a good place to hunt.I'm hoping to get a sef coil for my SE soon, hope your problem gets resolved.

I have almost opposite settings as you do with the 10 x 12 S.E.F coil. I hunt in conductive sounds...semi auto sensitivity...and some iron mask. Just for curiosity's sake....switch the settings somewhat just to test the coil again. By NO means am I trying to get you to try my settings...I NEVER do that. The only time I ever give anyone settings to try is if they pm me and ask. We all have our personal settings that we use....I'm just curious to see if by some chance you got a got a coil that isn't quite right. If that's the case...then I'm pretty sure JW would correct the situation. I know my coil functions fine with the settings I described to you...so I'm curious to see if your coil will work with those settings.
