Spent a few hours yesterday looking for a CW RR guard camp. Found this Navy button, but cannot match it up to anthing in Albert's. The Backmark is WATERBURY BUTTON CO. **. Going by the Backmark book, this backmark is supposedly 1861-1865, but there is something about this button that just doesn't "Look right" Any help would be appreciated

Hey Mike, Nice button. I can identify it. It's my button and I lost it where you found it. It has an eagle and anchor on it and has a Waterbury makers mark. How's that for identifying?? Nice find Mike, hope you find the R.R. guard camp.(Then holler at me to come hunt--Hint Hint!!)

This area is a challenge to hunt to begin with. High Tension towers going over the property, in addition to Amtrack's wires are making my machine(s) go nuts Let me know if you ever get up this way, I have a couple of different areas that are a little easier to hunt

Hey nice button. I have one exactly like that. Same amount of stars and everything. However my back mark is
D Evans and Co Attleboro Mass
My digital camera is broke so im trying to find a way to get it posted. If anyone can help me with the identification of the button it would be much appreciated. I cannot find it in Alberts button book either.
Thanks,
Joe

One difference in the buttons I just noticed Mike. The difference i noticed was that my buttons anchor seems to be a bit longer going up to the left wing of the eagle and then dropping with a more rounder curve..
Man I wish I can get it posted.
Thanks
Joe

Expecially since it has the D. Evans backmark

I would date your button circa 1866-1870. It is Navy, but a little post war. Still a nice example and a good button. Good hunting, David @ Dixie
