Need some feedback (Advice and/or Experience) on the coiltek Platypus coil

Was looking on-line today and came across the Andy Sabisch review of the coil in 2005. Has anyone been using this coil with the Quattro? What about the Explorer SE? I would very much appreciate any advice on this coil and experiences people have had with it hunting on the beach? and regular land hunting (coinshooting/relic)? Lastly, and most importantly is it worth it? I have the 8" and 10.5 Minelab coils with the unit I have coming to me.
Best regards,

Hi Flawboy, I am using the Platypus on my Quattro and I love how sensitive it is. With elliptical shape it is easier to get into tighter stuff with it. It is a great pinpointer too! I have dug targets up to a foot using it. I have not taken it off since I put it on the Quattro. This is my opinion only and I hope others respond. Take care.

Hey hey. I have been using the Platypus and think its a great coil. I do mostley coin and relic hunting with it, and find the depth a little better than stock coil. I also use an 8" Minelab coil but sold the stock 1050. I find the Platypus to be a little better on small targets as well. Worth the $200 I think if you use it as a replacment for the stock one. Hope this helps, HH L8R
