Need some help/opinion... Deus use on salt water beaches...

Mark ( ohio )

Well-known member
Im letting go my Exp II after many yrs of successful hunting salt beaches only for the mere fact of age ( me ) + weight of the detector = short time on the sand...Will the deus peform as close to the exp II in this environment, or should I look elsewhere? Weight is really my main concern. I want to stay for long periods without my shoulder ready to fall off...

Any thoughts??

If you're going to submerge the coil you will of course need the waterproof kit as well.
The rumors are that the V4 update is going to improve performance in just the situation/sites you are referring to but unfortunately the factual information is disappointingly sparse.

If you can't handle some chatter or falsing when coil hit wet sand pass on the item.
I read so many negatives and positives.
I decided a few month's ago to give XP Deus a try for wet beach's.

I like the compact light unit and wireless.
I use the light weight backphones love them in the 25 mile wind crashing surf.
I wear a hip meter to measure my distance traveled on the beach. This morning 1.2 miles now add the wide swing with 11 inch coil. Square inch's covered ? no arm strain.
Last Sat and Sunday 10.6 miles.
I worked the low tide and big waves this morning. Coil can get wet rinse sensor for charge area after use or if you have water on you.
I use Wet Beach mode I do alter sensitivity. I nail deep 10 -12 in in wet flood out holes steep slopes. Item can get washed out. I still can pick up the item 3 feet washed away down slope.
I use the same settings in the drier high tide areas. Today Excal in front of me he passed on hole nulling. He told me to try the hole this metal was deep I passed also. He had monster 17 inch coil elbow bands moving slow less coverage for time searching.
I have alread seen other top MD miss jewelry and coins. It does'nt bother me if I see others working the beach.
Deus can be swung fast and quick recovery.
Unit is paid for and I get a good walk for excercise.

Read read read the manual. Use a safety tie on control unit.
I enjoy tones VDI I really don't care about numbers I can hear the good sounds wet or dry and I move quick.
Metal can be right next to a great find.
Did Dig Dig have fun and listen for the tone.
