Need some help with a Weird signal

While I was testing a gold nugget I scanned the ground for a clear patch of ground. I picked up a signal that bounced from extreme upper right to extreme lower right. I couldn't dig it as I had migrated to my neighbors yard finding a clear spot. But it puzzled me because it didn't act Iratic but hit the upper and lower right with stable hits Lifting the coil to see if it was a large target the signal faded at about 3" off the ground. Any Ideas.

My first guess would be iron... I would have opened up the discrimination all the way to see if it also hit in the upper left corner which would confirm Iron. Otherwise, it could be an object with a large halo around it or in very poor corroded condition.... your neighbor needs to let you dig it <IMG SRC="/forums/images/wink.gif" BORDER=0 ALT=";)"> Take care, Mike.

Could be iron, but going to the right bottom tells me it could very well be a piece of old aluminum can lid that still has a piece of rusted tin from the side attached, maybe a lawn mower chopped it, could also be a coin near or under a botttle cap.. I agree with Mike though get your neighbor to let you dig it if it has a chance at being silver....Jim
