Need some input on hunting trashy areas

I have an origional Sovereign. I have had it for years and I love it. It's no secret I guess that they do not like trashy areas. Are there any Sovereign users out there that have a technique that helps when hunting in trash? I would love to get your input on the best way to hunt these type areas.

Thanks, David

i've found a lot of old coins in trashy areas that had been missed by many other machines. i've seen pictures of coins others have found with the sovereign that had rust on them. sometimes the signal if off. got a 1904 i.h. the other day that was a broken signal. it had a rusted part of something with it. just have to slow down.

slow down your swing and listen closely to the tones. At times you will get a very short high tone spike indicating a coin hit. Good luck.HH

If you have the original Sovereign you should have the 8 inch coinsearch coil. If this is the case then like the other say you just got to slow down your swing as I know it can see in between trash. With any detector in trash you have to go slower and find with the Sovereign it don't average target like some detector do and by going slow you will hear the good in with the bad.
Now if it is real bad trash then a 5 inch coil may have to be used, but I found the 8 inch coinsearch did good for me. Turning down the sensitivity or running auto too will help too in real bad trash.

and used to drive me absolutely nutty, but I have learned that if it is a real old location most off the ''good finds '' left will be in with trash or iron, I hunt a place that is riddled with iron /junk but still Very good finds continue to be made .......as was mentioned you will need to slow down in trash, are you talking just basic coin shooting (grabbing clad) or are you talking about pulling deep oldies in trashy areas, deep oldies in trash are tough and will require patience and a williness to dig SOME iron ,but you will still be listening for the higher pitched tones, they to me dont sound totally coin nor does the meter always id properly,I find in and around deep iron the target id drags down and tends to be lower, if you just wanna get all the clad around a picnic bench then just slow down and use the smallest coil you got and listen for coin sounds and in this instance I tend to rely on meter probally more than I should ,but its just clad and I hate digging junk , for deep stuff in old parks with lots of trash you will find that if they have been heavily hunted that most good stuff left will be in with junk ,some deep coins have 3 and 4 other pieces of junk in with them so go way slow, its gonna take paitence and a little skill and a little luck...if its deep and your not sure its a coin ,go to All Metal mode and see if you can size up the target if it seems smallish I say dig,......good luck ............
