Need to buy decent detector

New member
I want to get into this hobby but I'm having trouble finding good info on decent detector.I need something for fresh and salt water as well as for land. Can anyone help me in my search as I would rather get advice from someone who has used one as opposed to someone who has sold one.Thank you in advance for any info you can share.

had tesoro cibola and got explorer, never looked back. but one minus weight. another option is sovereign. with metal detectors is one problem not so much to chose from.

Unlike a single freq machine... the explorer transition between the wet and dry sand very with and get great depth. The box ISNT waterproof so dont raise the coil above you box once you get it wet. The coils themselves are waterproof. The SOV does a great job on the beach as well... but doesnt come with TID you have to learn the tones or buy an add on meter. If you are talking about one that you can get wet.... most make them, but i wouldnt recommend any of them for situations like parks. Look at any MULTI freq machine. I do a lot of detecting and in the winter hit the Fla beaches or go out west. The Explorer is as close to an all around machine that ive found.
