neede help for setting up a fisher f70

Not a huge relic hunter, but I can tell you that 1 tone, 1F and 2F seems to be pretty darn stable and is the quietest in disc with sense and thresh set at higher levels...not that you have to turn this thing up to max to get great depth.
I personally use 1 tone with great success in sites with both heavy iron and also regular park sites with heavy trash you find at those older areas.
As a matter of fact, according to Fisher too much power might actually get you less depth in some circumstances.
All metal, of course, is used by many relic hunter that have great success.
Hunting in iron heavy sites vs cleaner areas might dictate settings you might want to use, and you have an almost unbelievable amount of setting combinations available to you.
There might be a difference in disc on stability and noise and on how signals come in on each separate disc setting of 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and higher, set this thing on 0 disc and I suspect this is as close as you can get to all metal while still in disc compared to almost any machine out there.
Because of the programming you will get what amounts to a slight boost at sense settings below 5 and over 20, and you definitely get a boost in SL.
The standard coil gets pretty deep, the 11" F75 coil gets a bit deeper, sometimes a lot deeper, so think about getting one if your model is the standard combo.
You have a screen, but audio is important... really important on this thing no matter what you hunt for especially on the deep stuff so work on understanding that part of all the info you will see and hear.

A couple of good vids from Fisher...most info and behavior posted about the F75 will usually pertain to the F70 and the T2 because they are all built on the same basic platform.

Oh yea... I forgot some advice on actual settings.
Keep in mind the sense, (gain), and the thresh are tied together so different combinations will get you to different places, info wise on signals.
The sense is penetrating power, the thresh is the "gathering" adjustment.
The higher the thresh is set the more you can get readings on the actual bits of metal in the ground both shallow and deep AND large to very small.
As you might guess, set these too high and the amount of signals you get and the strength of those signals you receive could have the effect of washing out or obscuring good signals and also affect depth or the ability to make sense of signals at depth, anyway.

The factory start up settings are set this way for a reason...choose the tone type you like the best and start tweaking from there.
Raise the sense up past 60, maybe play with the thresh and raise that a bit too and get to a setting that is comfortable you to hunt with as it pertains to falsing, chattering and noise.
Don't forget you have 7 frequencies that you can try to mitigate EMI problems if you have any.

The start up 15 on the disc is ok, but if it were me I would lower that down since you are looking for relics and I would want a shot at examining everything in the iron range except maybe the smallest pieces so somewhere in the 4-7 range is where I would probably be.
As you get more comfortable with your fine machine it has been said you can let your site and conditions dictate the optimum settings for the way you want to hunt instead of forcing it to bend to your will.
Both ways could work...you will find out as you get swing time in at your particular sites.

I played and experimented with this thing for the last year and learned a lot and also found a ton in many different sites under many different conditions.
I still think I have barely scratched the surface on what this thing is capable of achieving.
