Hello,
As the title says I am very new to the hobby, but I am so intrigued by the idea. I had a couple of questions about hunting and such, but I have been lurking in the message boards trying to find some answers but I only have more questions.
I am planning a trip to Florida to hunt booty from the 1715 fleet. I am not sure if I should get an underwater detector or just a land one. I have a friend who swears by Whites and he loaned me his detector which is a Whites Quantum II. His idea of treasure hunting and mine are very different. He wanted to search playgrounds for "lunch money" and I am hoping for something more than that. I am wanting something that will be able to deal with black sand and any other hazards one might encounter in beach hunting.
I read where others looked at low tide and just above the waterline and to the toe of the dune at other times.
As I said before I used the Quantum II for a couple of days and I like the depth finder and I got really good at digging up beer tabs and caps so I am excited to find better stuff. I found out the underwater ones have the headphones and don't show the depth so that is why I am leaning more toward the land ones. Any advice you can offer would be appreciated.
Thanks
