I got the exact coin shown above from my local coin dealer just before Christmas. He just gave it to me. Said it's in too bad of shape to sell. After I looked at it, I knew that it would make an easy and nice looking coin ring to craft. You see, it is so old, that is was quite thin, making it easy to burr with my Dremmel tool. And the stamped "NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR" was very legible, so it would still be identifiable on the finished coin ring, provided that I didn't polish it off.

Below is the finished coin ring. Thanks for looking. :)

great job john,, you realy have that art worked out ,, would love to try that myself one day

John that's intriguing! How did you roll the border over to the edge? I've made silver rings by peening the edge of the coin with a heavy spoon until the diameter fit the circumference of a finger, and then dremeled out the ring hole. What is the coin made out of? Nice work bud!

Great job again!
One of these days, I'm gonna give that a try too. Looks like fun. You posted a link some time back to the process, didn't you?

Nice craftsmanship John !

Hey man, that's really awesome!:clapping: So, do you sell those things or what? Just curious. Thanks.
