Just traded a Tesoro Silver Umax and $140 cash for a new un-opeded 505
Now to keep or sell, any pointers welcomed, thanks!

If you are going to be using the X-TERRA, you are welcome to ask questions, make comments or just visit about it on this forum. There are lots of very knowledgeable X-TERRA users here to help you out. However, if you are trying to sell it, please let me know and I'll make sure we can get your post moved over to the Classifieds. Thanks. HH Randy

They are really good detectors. There are several useres on this forum that do really well with them.

First, you can't go wrong with Minelab so now you're faced with keeping or selling a 505. You have to decide if you feel like you made out very well with your trade and if you're not interested in spending more money then enjoy your new 505, it's a good detector.

If spending more money isn't an issue then you have to decide if auto ground balance, tones and a few other items are worth t to you for the difference that you are going to have to spend after you sell the 505 in order to buy a 705, eTrac or some other detector. I don't think anyone here will talk you out of any model of a Minelab detector so it actually looks like you have a pretty easy decision to make based on if you want to spend more money or not. Either way I can't see you making a wrong decision as long as you pick the detector that has the features you want with the budget that you have to work with.

I'D keep it.

With all due respect, how can we give suggestions if we do not know what your metal detecting goals are! The people on this forum are extremely competent and fully willing to answer any question regarding the X-Terra's.

I'm going to keep it and am sure I will have questions down the road. I coin and relic hunt, no prospecting and no surf so I think the 505 is a good fit. Been using nothing but Tesoro"s since 1993. My wife hunts a lot also and likes the Fisher F2 and is the first VID I have ever held. If I can get the deeper silver I will be a happy camper. Coil option's will be in a few months after I get some swinging time on the 505. Thanks for your help now and in the future. Oh, and my goal all along has been to find a pickle jar full of Gold Eagles!
Here are the 4 silvers Barbara pulled out of one hole the other day with the F2
