New 75- LTD basic settings ???

grumpy

New member
Morning All
I have a new F 75 LTD and was hoping someone would give me the basic settings they use for just coin and jewelry hunting in school yards (grass) and play grounds with woodchips usually. I know there are probally some here if I could find them but I am really haveing problems with concentration with the crud I have so long reads or lots of reading is out.
Also to go to factory setting and start over at square 1; how do you do that, I know I read there is a way but ? Is the factory start a good place to start or better cut the chase and use a custom setting?
Thanks so much I really appreciate any help.

Grumpy,
To reset (From the manual):
1. Reset all detector values to default:
a. turn detector off
b. press-and-hold red MENU button and push-forward-and-hold Toggle
switch
c. turn detector on while continuing to hold MENU and Toggle
d. release Menu and Toggle.

How I start for school yards and tot lots, I just put it in BP mode, zero discrimination, no notches, 3H or 4H tones (because I'm used to those sounds, particularly the 3H as it's like my CZ's) and adjust the sensitivity as low as it needs to be to be fairly quiet. Ground balance it. Then, if when you are sweeping the coil, it just sounds off like an orchestra doing their pre-performance tuning, put the small coil on.

I made the mistake of not taking the small coil when I went to the playground for my first hunt with the LTD. I had to move around to find spots that did not have a lot of targets. Came back another day with the smaller coil. The standard coil separates very well, but if it is trashy, the sounds can get overwhelming. They did for me on that first hunt.

Cheers,

If your just starting off with the F75 LTD, I would actually bump the disc up to 7. 0 is optimal, gives a little extra sensitivity/depth, but also is susceptible to a LOT more noise, 7 will knock out small iron and quite it down a bit. I would hold off on zero disc until your ready for SIZZLE MODE :hot:

Another trick I've found for hitting tot-lots and fresh water beaches in search of jewelery is using the 2F tone option. Last fall I found a small chain on the beach that in any mode except 2F just produced a brief scratchy sound I wouldn't have dug, yet in 2F it came in loud and clear, it works really well for jewelery hunting, but I probably wouldn't use it in a turf setting simply because there's typically so many targets you'll be glued to the screen. Lately for turf hunting I've been using 4 tones, I'm still a bit on the fence with it. I'm finding that I'm digging a lot less wheatbacks in 4 tone vs the 3H option I was using. I guess if you don't care about wheatbacks, and injuns, then ignore the 50's in 4 tones and you'll be fine.

Enjoy your new toy
