New C$

Hello all! Thought I would drop a line. I am new to this forum, although I have used Fishers for over 15 years. Started on the 1265X and dug a lot of goodies as long as it was Depthmaster equipped. Bought a new CZ5 when they first came out and did real good. Dropped out for about 4 years for a short hiatus and just took my new C$ out yesterday for a 32 degree hunt. Went to an old horse racing track always good for old 40's silver. Most places were too wet or ice crusted but did manage to dig a lot of bottlecaps and clad trying to get used to the machine. It LOVES round objects! I finally dug an old wheat cent at around 8 to 9 inches that did just as my old CZ5 and bounced in the high coins, "zinc" range back and forth. Pinpoint was the giveaway though, VERY deep but not "mushy".... a solid pinpoint. All in all, this machine is a perfect hybrid between the old 1265X and CZ5! Deeper than the the 1265X and lacking the one thing that I WILL NEVER MISS on the CZ5..that BELLTONE over shallow objects! Sounds just like the telephone at my office and I detect to get away from that! Has to be very big and VERY shallow to set off the thing on the C$ and it seems more subdued! I know I have a learning curve ahead, but I feel confident I will find as much with this machine as Fishers past in time. It's my first digital numeric detector and I will have to get used to that. My one recommedation for Fisher...put the pinpoint trigger back on the C$ where it was on the 1265X! You have the handle back to being designed right with the control box up OFF the stem and it's way more comfortable to swing all day, unlike the CZ5, which wasn't really bad, but more cumbersome and twisted your wrist as you swung. I use pinpoint to ID more than the meter, so please give us some relief from carpal tunnel moving our thumb around all day. Great machine though! Can't wait for Spring and try it out in better places.

& glad your enjoying your C$ <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> I had a similar transformation. Had a 1266x...then to a CZ-6....then the C$ came out. All great units, but the C$ is really my favorite now. Keep posting your results....
HH, Bill
