I guess in order for me to find silver coins I need the Digger. WOW what a great little coil it is & I also found my first nickel & a wheat penny. Friday night was my 1st. time out with it in my back yard where I combed over the same soil many times with my LF & MF 9" concentrics & also my 10.5" MF DD. I got a clear repeatable tone of 32-34 & found this sterling silver ring-at least is says sterling on the inside. Whatever stones were mounted in the cavities(5) are gone but it was still a great find for me because it's my 1st. ring. We had alot of rain this last week so my hunting was limited but Saturday I got out & found a silver Roosevelt dime(1957) also in my back yard (only the 2nd. silver coin I ever found).
Today(Sunday) I headed out early to an old farmstead that I was saving for the right time because of all the rain we had I wanted to be sure the lawn wasn't soggy. I packed all my coils & was there before 6:00A.M. & started detecting around the house & within 5 minutes I got a nice high tone(40) & pulled out another Roosevelt(1954) & then not more then 5 feet along I hit a mercury dime(1936)-YAHOO!!! Folks that's big time for a rookie. I went over to the north side of the house & once again got a slamming hit & out comes a 1945 quarter followed a little later by my 1st. nickel (1954) which was unexpected because it's my 1st. I then went over by a garage & found this spoon shaped utensil that I'm not sure what it is or what it's made of. Lastly I found 2 pennies one of which was a wheat(1919).
I can't say enough about the Digger,it's everything that I've read about & more. It blows me away how clear the signals are on silver & copper. Don't get me wrong I did dig plenty of bottle caps, pull tabs, nails, iron junk, etc. but this turned out to be my best detecting to date.....Al from fdl. P.S. I also found a button with a horse head on it-not sure what it means or where it's from.
