New EXP II Carbon Rod on a EXP xs Concerns and help....

I just got a new EXP II lower rod [carbon fiber] to put on my EXP xs.... what I had to do to get the coil wire which has about 8 inches of CURLED wire thru the new rod is difficult because of the diameter.....I had to tie a long shoe lace around the wire plug..... thread it thru the rod strected straight and pull the coil wire thru the new rod tightly until it came thru to the other end..........then I hooked it up to the control box......
now the rod is locked in BUT it is only 90% TIGHT!!......there is a little twisting play in the rod the round rod can turn inside the square EXP xs rod.... and if you assert some firm downward pressure on the coil it will collapse the rod smaller.....has anyone experienced this? .....maybe its because its a Exp II rod on an Exp xs? is there a fix?
its works but it aint perfect....

the fiber rod has a square on the end and some of the upper rods are a bit larger on the ID you can wrap one wrap of black electrical tape around the square and it will take up some of the wobble and slack.
I can push on my rod (XSII) and it will push in when locked.
I also had to use a string to get the cable through the fiber rod, used my shoe lace in the field.

Sounds like if you wrap some tape around the lower rod at the insertion point you could make it snugger and it would lock down tighter and sovle that problem.

Are we talkin Black electrical tape? seems logical I hope <img src="/metal/html/confused.gif" border=0 width=15 height=22 alt=":?">

Charlie thanx for the support.....I know now Im not alone in this Whew! I'll try the tape fix and see what happens ....its not that bad unless you really assert pressure in the above mentioned areas while hunting.

is with the crosshairs...............................
Digital on the XS does not give nowhere near as much information since the digital number only represents the conductivity of the target and not the ferrous content, whereas the crosshair gives a reading based on both conductivity and ferrous.
Ferrous Tones and Crosshairs is an excellent setup, especially for New Jersey soil :>)

Don thanx for the info....especially from a native NJian like yourself........I will be trying to hunt with the crosshairs today ....and see how it goes.....I appreciate the advice....wish me luck..
