New finds yesterday, and some ID help!?

Well I tried a new spot yesterday for an hour and a half. Looks like I'm going to have to go back today <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">
I picked up my oldest silver to date...an 1858 fishscale. It's a little black in areas, which I'm not sure will come off...but WOW this coin is in beautiful shape aside from that! I can't believe the detail on both sides. I dug this girl at 8". No wonder she has been there so long.
I found some more silver in this 1929 dime, and later picked up an 1881 large cent, a musketball, piece of a spoon with a stamp on it (hoping to date it), and a couple of items I can't put a finger on.
The piece that looks like a miniature bucket is strange. It has a couple of grooves around it, and a hole in the side. Anybody know what the heck this thing is!? I know...a longshot...and maybe it's just scrap, but you never know. It was about 13" deep.
The last thing I am not sure of, is the round pewter coloured piece. From the front it looks like a flat button, but the back seems very strange. Anyone know if this is in fact some kind of button!? I pulled it up from about 11"
Thanks for looking
Wess
