New fisher f75 ltd user

First off I am new to this forum and just wanted to say hi. I am waiting on my fisher f75 ltd that I just bought and can't wait to start using it. I have a minelab xterra 305 currently. Are there any good tips that I should know about the fisher.

Welcome to the forum

One of problems a lot of new users have with the F75 is they get in and make a lot changes as they play with the settings. So play away but learn how to do a factory reset, they F75 will keep a lot of your last settings after you turn it off. We have had a lot of guys come on here and ask what is up with this crazy detector and as soon as somebody says do factory reset they calm down.

I just bought my second F75 new and I thought when I turned it on for the first time it would all be just as the factory settings, not so, so even new I had to do a reset right out of the box. Notches seems to be the problem, you can get in the notches and set some pretty crazy things. So I would stay away from notches until you get a few hours on the machine and start to understand it.

I know some will disagree with me on this but if you are a coin hunter the factory settings are pretty hot. All you need to do to start hunting is learn how to ground balance to your ground and start hunting. Just a note the DE processor which is the default requires a pretty fast sweep speed or you will lose depth. So you can go to the BP (boost processor) and you can slow down on that sweep speed and still get real good depth.

We will be watching for questions after you get your machine.

Good luck,

Factory preset is the way to start. It has great depth.... and will let you learn the sounds and meter readings..

If anything I would suggest turn sensitivity even lower the first few hunts...

Good words above. Don't let the unit get the best of you, and it will, if you run it all out at first. Get to know it with calmer settings and work your way to its peak. In other words 'ease into it'.
It's a very sensitive unit. You will be amazed with the bits of metal it picks up. I have had one since it came out, and I still shake my head when taking apart a plug and see a tiny piece of foil it has detected. Or shotgun pellets. I did buy another one, this time an LTD. There is a guy who knows these 75's like the back of his hand and has tons of the best info available. His name is NASA Tom....look up his tests pages...we all learned quite a bit from him. Have at it, and good luck.
