I found the following posted on the Garrett forum.
"The new det. proto has a different approch to disc. I hunt in zero when I get a reading I turn the disc up until it stops reading, if it never stops its iron. By noting where it eliminates the target you can tell what its made of. This approch worked very well in Italy hunting Roman coins. Remember this is still a proto."
Sounds like the same method used in the HH PI.
