New GTI 1500

bloodyknees

New member
I jumped off the "deep end" yesterday. Bought a GTI 1500. It's a big jump from my ace 300. I think I'm gona like it. I wanted something with a few more bells and whistles. It will take a while to get used to it. I think the hardest thing will be the extra weight. I'm used to grabbing the old 300 by the shaft while on my knees an scanning my hole. This may not be as easy with the 1500. Anyway, I am ready to give it a workout. One thing about useing the 300 all these years, It sure has honed my pinpointing skills by useing the "X" method. In fact, after a quick "tryout" with the new 1500 in my yard, I swear I can pinpoint better to old fashion way than with the pinpoint mode. But I know my mind will change once I've had some quality time with it. Thanks for reading and later............Al

You just moved up into the "big time" bud. I field tested the old 300 many moons ago and you have moved up from a covered wagon to a Lexus. :) Pinpointing with the 1500 takes just a little practice and is deadly accurate. You have one of the best coinshooters made and you'll have a ball with it. I field tested this one when it first came out.

get a sunray pinpointer and you won't have to grab your detector while you're in the hole.

There you go. I get a lot of use out of mine. Great for detecting shallow coins and hunting up close to metal playground equipment.

I have a vibraprobe so I don't have to re-scan with my main detector too often. The sunray would is on my "want" list but will wait until the wife is in a real good mood............Later.....Al

You are already a great pinpointer using the old "X" method. Once you master the pinpointing on the 1500, you will realize how easy it really is and it's "right on". The GTI makes a great coin shooter, as you can size you objects quickly and make a good calculated guess whether to dig or no. Also, the BELLTONE FEATURE really bangs hard on silver coins.

Now go out and have fun learning it! :)

And once you get used to the sizing feature, you'll wonder if you can ever go back to a detector without it. As for the weight, the GTI 1500 is so well balanced, it actually feels less front heavy than my ACE 250!
