New guy on the block

Hello, I am the new guy on the block. This forum site was recommended by a friend, he said there was a lot of useful information and spiritual support here. I got my detector for Christmas last year, and have been enjoying it since. Am looking forward to the Forum hunt next Saturday. Any advice about detecting for a newbie, please feel free to share.

Welcome new guy, we are glad to have you with us and there are plenty of people on here who will help you with info on detecting! If you will post what detector you are using, then those who know and have used that brand will help you even more! Good luck at the forum hunt and have fun! Where are you at (roughly)? There might be a detecting club and/or one of us living near you and you can get some first hand experience.

Thanks for the responses. To answer some of the questions asked, I am in the Comstock area, I belong to the SWMSS club and I have a Garrett 250. I was out this morning and found my first Mercury Dime! I am finishing lunch and heading out again with my wife and son to see what else I can find.
 
Last Sunday was great, I only found 4 pcs the first hunt and was stillexcited about it. I did much better the second time. Anna, my wife, and I enjoyed meeting and mingling. She learned that some of the ladies get together and go hunting, she wants to go along.

You'll probably never get to see me...moved to Houghton Lake. I used to work for a security agency thats in Comstock Park (Unity Security)...until I moved up here.

You can learn a lot from the club members down there...especially Mike and Greg...and most definitely you'll learn a lot from Al at Prostock.
