the first sentence of this law states that "certain" archeological sites on public land will be protected. these "certain" archeological sites include ALL state owned property. the law goes on to state that any relics, objects or artifacts of an historical, prehistorical, geological, archeological or anthrpological(man made or natural) nature are now property of the state. it also goes on to state that any of the above that are found accidently must be turned in to the new jersey authorities. the penalty for a first offense is fairly light: 750 dollar fine, confiscation of any and all equipment used and any form of transportation you used to get to the scene of the crime. this law went into effect 7 december 2004. the vote sailed through both houses of the legislative body without any no votes and signed by a governor that was never voted into office. this is not a dream, nor a work of fiction or an april fool's joke. this is our government at it's worst.
