Got out today to scout a new location. The site is an old camp for disadvantaged boys, opening in 1903, and operating until about the 1960's. It is estimated that about 150,000 boys attended this camp during that time. It's a large site, and all the structures are long gone. My first attempt was to check the only clearing. It may have been where the ball fields were, but this area was full of small pieces of concrete containing wire to reinforce it. Needless to say, this area produced nothing but a few large pieces of copper. A little exploration of the surrounding woods brought me to some old trees where i started hitting coin targets. about 1 1/2 hours hunting brought me the finds below. 8 wheaties, the oldest being 1918 and the majority from the 40's, most between 3-5 inches. The ground was not terribly kind to them. No silver though
Surely some of these kids had to have some silver. I am sure some hunting has taken place at this location in the past, but it is off the beaten path. Hopefully it still holds some silver.
