New M6 user

I just bought a basically new M6 from Monte last week and finally got a little time on it the last couple of days. So far I like it allot, seems very sensitive and definitely loud. The site I was hunting is a pretty trashy park and I was about overwhelmed with all the tones at first but after slowing my swing down a little and paying closer attention I started learning her language. No great finds but I did pick up a couple of dollars in clad in a couple of hours and had allot of fun. I tried the search position for awhile but went back to tones because I really want to learn them and it helped me keep my swing at a better speed to ID targets. I think I'll have time to hit another park tomorrow and learn some more on the M6, and will be watching for a 5.3 eclipse to help with the trash.

Congrats on the new M6! The 5.3 will do alot better in heavy trash. Good luck and HH!

The 4X6 is very good in trash if you have the patience to work with the small foot print. However, the 5.3 serves quite well as a coil to leave on the detector most of the time besides working well in trash. I have both for my MXT and like them expecially well in trashy parks. Stick with the M6 as it will do you well.

I have the 6" DD excellerator coil along with the 12x10 SEF and like them both very well. Multiple tones is the way to go. Good luck hunting, it's a great past time.

I went out again today in a not as trashy park and am finding even with the stock coil a guy can work through the trash if he takes his time. Picked up a few dollars in clad in a park other people hunt so I was definitely pleased, even found what looks like a full karat diamond ring to bad it's fake, better luck next time.
I'll pick up a 5.3 one of these days for a cheap price if I keep my eyes open but for now I'll have to settle with the stock that I'm very happy with.

Hello Nailbender

My brother has the M6 and loves it. He uses the 4x6 coil all the time. I know what you mean about being loud due to no volume control. You can put some electrical tape over the speaker to quiet it down a tad - still will be loud enough plus it keeps any dirt out of it.

I use headphones that have volume controls so it really isn't a problem, it was just a surprise the first time I used it. When you crank the sensitivity up the volume goes up.

Today's find, Hope I attached the photo right.

20 dimes
