So I got the go on an old house. I have been trying to get ahold of this gal for a month and a half. Turns out she never answers the phone I was calling. Well she finally did and said yes just like that. I have two hunts about two hours each, 23 coins and 13 of them are older than 1956. That is a great ratio in my limited experience. One old button and a newer Gold electro plated button, kinda cool. The big surprise will be if the chain that is soaking is Gold. I should have took before pics but this thing has a heavy layer of ??? crust of some kind ??? as the crud comes off it leaves a very Gold looking metal that is not pitted like brass gets. I will have it checked.

Oh yeah the 1st days 1st hole had 4 wheats all 1917 or 1919 (s) with another 1919 5 inches away. 2 and 3 respectively. The neat find I think may very well have been the '43 New Zealand One Shilling. Neat coin that is 50% Silver.

The most fun is cleaning the chain in (reluctant) hope of Gold. Well it could be! Maybe!

Nice hunt!! Just curious is there a big difference between the 705 and explorer that you have noticed when hunting ?

Yes,
I can hunt roughly an equal amount of time with either. The Xterra is much simpler to set up. The SE has no GB to get out of whack. SE is a slower machine overall, and hunts the trash well. I have have found good coins with both. The Explorer seems to have the ability to move very slow and still get some depth.

The more time I put in the better I get at discriminating my targets by sound. Which one is better? Still depends on the hunt and the circumstance. I have a LOT more time on the 705 therefore a lot better ear for it. I have pulled some good coins from a pile of nails with the SE. (the 705 would never have seen). It does well in iron, but I have also gotten good coins from nail infested sites with the 6" HF DD.

Currently I have a place for both in my closet.

It still comes down to different tools for different jobs. The hunt above I had been using the 705 and 6" HF DD and swapped to the SE with the 7" coil for a specific area, to find a ghost, it was one of the Wheats found by the SE. I am pretty sure the Merc would have been found by a BH. it was only 3 to 4 inches deep and not much iron trash nearby

I, at some time, may consider trading the SE for a Sov GT or Excal.

Very, Very nice hunt Jeff. Looks like it was a riot.

Thx for sharing,

Nice assortment of finds Jeff. Looks like the kind of place you'd want to go back over a few more times. There's got to be more where that came from! HH Randy
