So I got the go on an old house. I have been trying to get ahold of this gal for a month and a half. Turns out she never answers the phone I was calling. Well she finally did and said yes just like that. I have two hunts about two hours each, 23 coins and 13 of them are older than 1956. That is a great ratio in my limited experience. One old button and a newer Gold electro plated button, kinda cool. The big surprise will be if the chain that is soaking is Gold. I should have took before pics but this thing has a heavy layer of ??? crust of some kind ??? as the crud comes off it leaves a very Gold looking metal that is not pitted like brass gets. I will have it checked.

Oh yeah the 1st days 1st hole had 4 wheats all 1917 or 1919 (s) with another 1919 5 inches away. 2 and 3 respectively. The neat find I think may very well have been the '43 New Zealand One Shilling. Neat coin that is 50% Silver.

The most fun is cleaning the chain in (reluctant) hope of Gold. Well it could be! Maybe!

WTG HH Jeff...! I too love my Minelab X-terra and have found some interesting things with it so far. My latest was a 1953 Quarter on a property dating back to the 30's. The elderly owner finally gave me a free reign to dig anywhere I wanted to and it's been rewarding to see what has come out of the ground. Keep up the good work and congratulations!

Congrats on all the neat finds and I hope and pray that the chain is gold...but usually gold comes out of the ground shining bright but could have gotten crusty depending on the soil! Amen! Ma Betty

Good going Jeff ! I have dug a few solid gold items over the years that were all cruddy but cleaned up to be solid gold. Good luck,Steve in so az

Nice finds! I am hoping this summer I find a buffalo or v-nickel or other old silver coins to add to my collection or a cache of coins :) Don't you love it when more than one coin comes out of a single hole? Last week I pulled 6 clad quarters out of the same hole. At first, I thought it was a soda can but digging down an inch or so, out popped the first quarter, re-scanned - out came another and so on. Even though nothing old, it was still nice to gain a $1.50 in a matter of a few minutes.

Hi potluck....I used to do that and it was always a thrill to find a nice spill of coins either in the ground or on top....found foreign coins that way, also! I wish I felt like detecting again but sometimes unhealthiness and being older brings an end to some of the things we enjoy doing! Hope and pray God Blesses you to find what your heart desires and that you have fun :detecting: and finding lots of goodies! Amen! Ma Betty
