[attachment 24296 Jewellaryearlymarch1stoutingwithquattro.JPG]Hello All Quattro Users. I am from Australia in the sunny state of Queensland these are my results with my Quattro on my 1st outing .I have been detecting for about 18 years. I have used different machine and started using the sovereign XS since they have came out with good results over the years. decided it was time to up date to a another unit so I chose the Quattro that the Garrett GTA X was simular in all the different setting as my Quattro so the learning curve will be no problem. The 1st time out I used the factory pre set except the sensitive that I set to sixteen for the time being. Once I get used to the unit in about 5-6 weeks time I will change to a 15 inch wot coil made by coiltek. On the sov this coil produced a couple of extra inches in depth and I will be able to cover more area also at the same time. So far I am very happy with the detector. I am going to add a back light over the front on the first half inch and with a hood over to focus the light over the top of the screen and wring a AAA batter box to hold two batteries and when I have made the light I assembly I will attach it to the top front with Velcro tape so it is removable during the day light hours. I will b using about three white LED bulbs as they produce a very strong white light and draw a small current so the batteries should last for some time. I do a lot of detecting at night on the beaches. Some of the larger surf clubs have lighting
at night. I think that the 15 inch coil is lighter than the stock coil. The other site I have been working into the 4th year as it covers a very large area 14 acres plus. It was a US army hospital site in the 2nd WW.in short I have found over eight hundred pre decimal coins before 1966 when we changed to dollars and cents. I like the old money which is my notch in coin hunting. I also found five US dog tags and after some time I was able to track TWO servicemen and return them to the owners I will give you a link to the page where I keep my photos have a look and enjoy.

I have about five photos albums under the name of Stanley and there are plenty of the relics I have found of the army hospital site.just go to pictures on the left side and scroll through the numbered album pages.

There is a photo of my 1st out and I found about forty dollars in coins. When you find some $1 & $ 2 coins you can have a good day and helps for the petrol. I would like to thank Angela a aussie hunter for putting up with the questions I asked over a few emails for some answers about the quattro. Thanks for your time and will be posting on a regular base. Stan. From Australia.

Hello Stan, Welcome! It's great to see you're finally posting on this forum! And what a good start you had with the Quattro. I love the photo! The earring in the pic looks identical to one I found not so long ago, but without the back bit. I also got Garry to make me a night light which is velcroed above the screen, but it sometimes slips around or moves out of focus with the screen. And I also wanted to be able to see where I dig on the beach at night. So I've opted to go with a head lamp soon. Saw a few kids in town last night, walking around their campfire wearing them, and I meant to go ask what brand they were. They looked a very bright blue light from the distance, and lit up around them very well!
Looking forward to your future posts Stan!

Welcome! We like pictures of finds. Clad pic would be good too. Never can have too many pics. Did you dig a lot of trash to get that jewelry?

Hello Mirage. Thank you for your welcome. The main thrash we have over here is the round foil off the bottles. Pull tabs and the screw tops and patches of beer bottles tops. Before I got the Quattro I was using a Patrick meter on my sovereign with a scale that my son and my self worked out to suit our coins and rubbish and together they worked quite good in iding the trash. The Quattro has a different sound and pitch so it will take a couple of outings to get used to the signals and set up a discrimination pattern to suit my hunting I hope to be posting more on the forum. Stan Australia.
