NEW QUESTION: How many of you carry Silver in your pocket while hunting so you can "Remember" what it sounds like?

I don't. I know approx how it sounds like inside out now-a-day's.:detecting:

Nice find LA

I have'nt hit a cartwheel yet, but when I do I'll be turning cartwheels fer shure. I just got me an EX ll myself back a couple of months ago and been playing with Ferrous and Conduct sounds and minus 10 Iron mask with the Ferrous and open screen with the Conduct sounds. Just wondering what kind of settings you are happy with now. Thanks for any advice you might share..............Hombre

I don't. Becuase, even if it sounded like sliver and it turned out not to be silver,it still gave a good signal and anyone would dig it anyway.
Happy Huntin, Gary

I carry a few different coins with me. A thin and fatty Indian head, Merc, silver nickel as well as a regular one and occasionally a seated dime/half dime. Depending on different soil conditions some of these may sound differently. And yes I know where they should hit and what they should sound like but carrying them is just a part of my detecting "kit" when I go out. I really don't give it much thought when packing up to go.

Nope...If I can't remember the sliver or keeper sound, along with what my machine tells me (Digital and curser), I don't deserve to find the keeper.

it is always in the bag I carry with me to any site. Still need some gold coins to add to strips. With the strips I don't lose any coins and I can check each one flat or on edge. I made it so there was about 15 inches between coins along the strips. I have 3 strips with as many varied coins as I could get and some are previous finds.

1) if i'm not finding anything, it's reassuring to know the problem is not with my detector...

2) it helps me stay focused on my goal...silver!

3) i like to show people just what it is i'm looking for, when the need arises.

i carry these "pocket pieces" even when i'm not detecting, because i talk about the hobby all the time. the coins are a good visual aid.

I don't!!!!! I dig almost everything!!! You should see my collection of NAILS

You really can't mistake that "warrble" sound and what it's telling you. If you don't recognize it, then you need to get out and enjoy detecting more! often:thumbup:
