I tried a new-to-me program on Thursday before the snow came and was very pleased with the results! I only had about three hours to hunt, and it was back to the park again looking for some low-down, deep coins as usual. Mike sent me a Youtube link where a Deus user sets up the machine using highly negative GB settings, but the real beauty of the program is making the "ground noise" into a low tone while you dig any high tones. It's basically a "Beep and Dig" program, but it has impressive depth on all frequencies.
The ground has frozen in some spots to a depth of 3" or so, while other spots just feet away are diggable. Getting through the first three inches was tough, but after that it was OK. This program still gets deep foil and nails, no getting around those, but using 4kHz helps with the tiny targets. Full Tones is not an option here, and I've used Full Tones since Day #1 when XP released the v3.0 software. Here is the way I set it up:

Tone 1 = 100 Hz....00
Tone 2 = 100 Hz....01-25....iron targets will sometimes "null" with higher Tone 2 breaks, below a "10" setting you will hear some iron
Tone 3 = 502 Hz....26-47....nickels in 8khz will sound "mid-to-high" toned, but deep nickels almost always read higher than 50 in all frequencies
Tone 4 = 800 Hz....48-97
Tone 5 = 100 Hz....98-99
The aim of this program is to make the ground noise the same tone as iron - as many of yall know sometimes ground noise indicates a high tone - this is the major problem using Full Tones unfortunately. This program fixes that, and helps to not dig so many phantoms that sound like deep targets. While swinging you can hear the ground noise, and adjusting Tone 2 higher will quiet down the chatter a great deal. The downside to this program is that EMI is more troublesome since you're running much higher Sens plus extremely negative GB. I switched frequencies some, and found that 4kHz and 8kHz to work best for our mineralized conditions.
I found myself adjusting Tone 2 range from 10 to 30, while at 30 this program runs very smooth and I could've jacked us the Sens quite a bit. Setting Tone 2 break at "10" gives you some more chatter, which is likely small bits of foil registering....I haven't tried lower GB settings yet, but I'd suspect it could get deeper with either a Reactivity or Sens adjustment. The 1900 Indian was 8" deep and surprisingly gave a 91 VDI in the relic program (no VDI in Goodjuju) - I made it a point to toggle over to "Goodjuju" settings which is basically 4kHz Reactivity 2 with neutral GB settings. I've found a LOT of deep 8-9" coins with Goodjuju, and both coins dug last hunt came in loud and clear with the Relic program.
The 1920 Wheat was nestled close to a large iron object, and at first I thought it was an iron edge false. That notion went away when the pinpointer indicated in the center of the hole!
Using Reactivity 2 you still get awesome separation, and swing speed is not as dependent with the Relic settings - but the big improvement is the depth over a GB neutral setting. I dug some iron, and it sounded good, but one target I remember was half of an ink pen clip at 8" that was 3" away from a bent nail.
There is great potential for this program - I've only started to get comfortable with it! Too bad the ground is frozen, I may brave the ice once more before 2016 goes the way of the Dodo
