NEW SE Question? Help Please

grumpy

New member
Hi Folks.
If someone out there would be so kind as to help me with a question about the new SE. I have a EX II and when I swing over a discriminated out target it nulls. This nulling last long enough to miss targets next to or close to the bad target. How much quicker, faster or however it should be worded does the SE machine come back after it does this nulling?????
Also I understand that the SE will read and update the digital numbers on fer and con while in pinpoint mode????
Thanks for the help
Grumpy

If it is just a Nail, then it will come back quite quick and should get a signal off of the Conductive Object. It is a bit quicker than the Explorer II and should get a little bit better of a signal because of this. It just depends if there is multiple Iron Targets next to a good Target or if it is just one Iron Target. It all plays different roles on the Explorer Settings. You also have the new Pitch Hold that might help you decide if it is a good target next to Iron or if it is just a Rusty Nail giving off a good signal. And yes, the SE ID's in PinPoint but it may have a bit of a problem with Iron Objects close by. Hope this helps out a bit and maybe someone else with more experience will comment on the differences between the Explorer II and the SE. Good Luck and HH.

As James stated...Many thing go into the amount of time...Swing speed, target size, also coil size.
A way to hunt an iron site is to open the disc, and run in ferrous sounds. This will give a quicker response to the targets you are looking to find(caution: running this way the detector is noisy).

Grumpy, in trashy sites I hunt in -16 and use the 8 inch coil. Otherwise I wouldnt ever hear the threshold. It is noisy but I just listen for the high pitch of the silver. I have hunted some places where I could put a coin on top of the ground and couldnt pick it up in discriminate. It will pick it up in -16
