New Sun Ray Pro-Gold Headphones

Does anyone have a set of these with the new longer cable and how are they, looking to replace my old amplified Superphones from the 80's, they finally went.

I haven't tried the Sun Ray Pro-Golds, but, I just don't see how they could be that much better than the Koss Solo Stereophones. Yeah, yeah.....these are not made for detectors, but, they comfort and sound response is incredible and I can buy 5 pair of these and have $10 left over for what the Sun Ray's cost. http://www.koss.com/koss/kossweb.nsf/p?openform&pc^fs^Solo It's your money and you need to get what YOU are happy with........I'm just saying I am really happy with the Solo's. The are available at any Wally World and carry a lifetime guarantee.

Whats your model # the only SOLO is see is the one with non-spiral cord and 1/8" jack? with the older detector clear sharp signals and almost unheard signals that were amplified would give you deeper targets. With my 555-D minute sig. would be amped to be heard most would have had no audio and went undetected except for a tiny fluctuation of the meter needle. worked the same on Silver Sabre, 1265X and my new 1270, never get to use them on the F75 so can't say how they would have worked. Used an "N" battery to amp. in one mode, the other was a normal mode. The signal were clear and sharp no side tone, chatter, or distorted. they were called Depthmaster by Tesore and were $100.00 in 1982, but not made anymore. they make a new type but I dont think there amped. Also used a stand alone amp that went between the headphones and the detector with a adj. knob worked real good to 2AA batt's. These Sun-Rays have a longer spiral cable and 1/4" right angle plug , the 2 pair i got from KellCo in both packages I got with the 1270 and F75 have a straight plug and a shorter cable which is a pain.

Yeah, that's the one I have. I does have a straight cord and the 3.5mm jack. I had to use a 1/4" adapter with it. You can get a 'studio' model with a coiled cord, but, they are in the $$$ range of your Sun-Rays. Another disadvantage to the Solo's is that they only have an inline volume control, nothing for the seperate channels and no amplification.....although, I leave the inline volume control on high and regulate the volume with the machine. I would have liked the heavier insulation on the coiled cord, but, hey.....they are only $20 and if the cord goes bad, I can get a new pair for free! (well, $6 for p/h)

Shooter, I have been using the Gray Ghost NDT's for years. I tried the Sun Ray Pro Gold's and they sound just as good, but have leather ear pads which are much better. The plastic pads deteriorate and have to be replaced at $10 a whack. I now keep the GG's for back up.
