I traded a Garrett at pro for a Explorer 2 I have never used a minelab I am a long time Whites user and i have found my share of gold and silver. I first took the Exploer out to a old school using the stock 10.5 coil a lot of trash for a larger coil so I had a hard time with it still picked out high tone coins. today I got the 6" Excelerator coil man this coil runs smooth. I was air testing some gold rings that I have found with my MXT small 14k rings about 2 grams that came in at 12 on whites vdi came in at 2 on minelab. why do so many think minelabs won't hit gold hard. it seem about the same 5 to 6 inch's in air test with both mxt and Explorer using 6" coils anyway I always dig foil numbers when they hit hard. so I think I will find some gold. i am very happy with this Detector. with being new I will be asking some ?'s now and then. wish me luck.

I think you'll enjoy the explorer It took me awhile to learn the machine, & I'm still learning butI wouldn'tget rid of it, Its a great machine. GL & HH:detecting:

thanks for the insite on gold mite help me dig more

I swung brand X for a year and found a couple silvers and lots of clad. Switched to ML and hit my ballfield, there was no learning curve 'cause i tried it first at home. I dug an additional 25 silver coins and now I'm hooked. Good luck!

Good luck with your Explorer!I went from Whites M6 to an Explorer and had a quick and easy transition.I just love the sound of the flute the machine makes,it has so much more info in the tones than other machines.I think it's the best coinshooter there is.I never had less than 150 silver coins a year in the four years I've used, this year I'm up to 233.I never had close to those numbers with the Whites.Just remember swing SLOW!

The Explorer II is a great machine and will keep up with anything out there. Just stay with it and learn it's sounds. Once you hear the deep silver fluty sound you will always remember it. :bouncy:

Yes I have a test Garden and I tested many items gold silver and trash it is for sure a silver Detector.but gold came in strong. I am going to start using it exclusively for the next month and dig most targets and see where things come in at.
