New to Forum and the "Digger" coil

Hello everyone!!

I'm new to this forum and fairly new to detecting. I started this great hobby in the fall of 2012 and I absolutely love it!!! I have just purchased the new Digger coil, and from just the one day I have used it, this thing is a beast!!! I hit an old house that I have hunted numerous times with the stock coil and came out from about an hour 1/2 of hunting with four wheats and four silver dimes. I love how this thing plucks the silver out of all the trash!! I have noticed that I need to "slow way down" with my swing speed compared to the stock coil. I really don't see this coil coming off my detector any time soon!!! Just want to say a BIG THANK YOU to Minelab for a great detector, to Coiltek for an awesome coil and Mr. Digger for all the info he has posted on the X-Terra!!

yeah mine stays on pretty much all the time too ... love to see them make a DD a little bigger to cover a little more ground like a 6x10 or something and welcome to the family

Welcome aboard! That is a great coil and yes, slowing down is just one of the keys to being very successful with that coil. Like Surfchunker has already said, I too pretty much use that coil exclusively.

Welcome to the forum. And thanks for the kind words. I appreciate them. But even for as much work as Old Longhair and I put into helping to prepare the Digger coil for market, this forum wouldn't be what it is without the HUGE number of X-TERRA users who are always here, willing to share their time and suggestions.:detecting: HH Randy

Welcome to the addiction, I am also new to the hobby. I also purchased a digger coil for my 705 this last summer and haven't taken off since. It is awesome and you are right, you have too slow the swing way down. Happy hunting.

Welcome PathHunter!
The more you use that coil, the more you'll like it.

And Randy hit the nail on the head. It's the people here and the free exchange of information that make this forum.

Nice post PH. Good luck with the Xterra and the new coil....Slow as you go with that swing will give you some great recovery's. Good luck on future outings.

Good luck with the new coil and welcome to the forum

Welcome! You've come to the right place...collectively this forum has some very helpful & knowledgeable people. The members here are the glue. Also, the "Digger" is an amazing coil for the X-TERRA, a very wise choice indeed.

GL & HH!

Welcome to the forum! If you have any questions regarding the X-terra series of detectors... this is THE place to get answers!

What is the "digger coil" ? how much is it? and where should I buy it?

Is there a big difference between stock and this coil?

I have alot of areas that have high trash but I know there is silver there. Hows the depth?

thanks for help

it is made by Coiltek and is a 3kHz 6" DD coil that works wonders in high trash areas ... they are not cheap around $200 but worth every single penny. depth is great for a small coil I have dug dimes 7" or so with it so far.

Thanks for the welcome guys, and I hope to post a few finds on here for you as well......On what surfchunker has said, yes this little coil is surprisingly deep. I know I haven't had the (DIGGER) very long but I can pretty much get the same depth with it as I do with the stock coil... I will be taking it overseas in a few weeks to see how it stands up to the German soil
