Hi all,

I'm new here and to BH, I've been wanting a MD to put in my truck and the other day found a BH 202 at a local pawn shop for thirty bucks. I put a fresh set of 9v's in and gave it a try, to be honest I was very surprised in ten minutes found one quarter three pennies and a small heart shaped charm at a local totlot. The 202 looks new so I know it hasn't been hunted much, I down loaded a manual and have been looking it over the last couple of days but so far very pleased with my little gem. Thanks for having me here and look forward to posting more finds with the little 202 in the future.

I use a BH also and its a cheaper Pioneer EX model and I have found many goodies with it including gold and silver. Good luck with your new machine and HH.

Welcome! Sounds like you snagged a pretty good deal and you're doing well with it so far.

The best way to learn the nuances of your machine is by using it, maybe toss down some test objects to check responses. Reading old threads about your 202 and other BH models is another way to pick up tips and methods others use.

There has been a number of variants on the QuickDraw, here's a "quick" rundown: QuickDraw II = Pioneer 202 and similar to the JCPenny Lone Star (lacks depth indicator) and the Radio Shack 63-3007 Discovery 2000 (lacks depth indicator). So that makes four variations you can do a search for more info.

Here's a Quickdraw page I maintain with some basic info: http://www.whiteriverprep.com/vintage/bountyhunter/QuickDrawII98.html

Happy Hunting!
