New to Garrett forum and had a detector question...... :help:

I was looking at purchasing a new Garrett detector just for coin/jewelry hunting and wanted to get ya'lls opinion. I was looking at the GTI 1500. I'm also gonna pick up an ACE 250 (just gotta have one of those too) I guess between the 1500 and 2500, what advantages would the 2500 give me over the 1500? I know the 2500 has the all metal mode and bi-level audio that the 1500 don't.

Thanks in advance from all you Garrett users,

Bryan

If you don't need or want all metal the 1500, which was designed for the things you want to hunt, will serve you well. It's one of the best coinshooters made.

the 1500 which im still learing. and I use and enjoy
both..

The GTI 2500 will get you more depth in the true all metal mode, which the GTI 2500 does not have.. It is a good coin hunter, as good as the GTI 1500 plus it makes for a better relic machine.

But, in your case, the GTI 1500 or GTP 1350 would be a good choice. Garrett is the only metal detector manufacturer which has the ability to size a target for you. It has been a real bonus for me.

I have an ace and it works extremely well. I would suggest buying one with a double d coil (i got one from kellyco for 99.00). They are a less expensive and you can judge if you really need another detector. The double d is extremely sensitive (good depth) and take a little getting used to. In the mean time you can use the standard coil. Remember that you still have all modes ( coin, custom, relic, jewelry, all metal). you will find coin! Get a good pin pointer! The best you can= they save time!
good luck!

I HAD A GTI 2500 AND IT WAS GREAT, BUT AFTER ABOUT A YEAR I WANTED A LIGHTER DETECTOR. SO I BOUGHT A TOSORO. IT WAS LIGHT, AND WOULD GO DEEP, BUT NO METER AND NO BELL TONE COIN ALERET, SO I BOUGHT A GARRETT 1500. IT IS EVERY THING I WAS LOOKING FOR. I ALSO BOUGHT A 250. WHAT A AMAZING LITTLE DETECTOR.

I'm picking up a new ACE 250 probably next week to start with. I've still not totally decided between the 2500 and 1500 but I'm leaning toward the 1500 I believe as I think it will be exactly what I'm looking for. :clapping:

Thanks again for the help,

I hunt with a friend that has a GTI 2500 ( I have an Ace 250 ) and consistantly kick his butt with my machine. Not to say that there is anything wrong with his 2500, with all the bells and whistles, its a nice piece. I think its a matter of getting to know your machine well, and learn what it is telling you, and of course, do a lot of digging.
The bottom line of detecting is what you pull out of the ground. Is the 2500 all that much better than the 250? Considering the price difference, the weight, the learning curve, etc... I'm not so sure...
I can't speak directly to the 1500, but again, I think its a matter of learning your machine well no matter what it is. Personally, I don't think that I will ever need another machine.

The ace has ausome depth..It will do the job...Your not gaining much depth with the bigger machines..Just learn one machine..thats the key
