New (to me) t2 se and first park hunt !

I just got my t2 se from Richard at backwoods detectors. Richard is a great guy to work with, ships fast, good price. I just had my first 2hr park hunt ! Besides the usual junk of pulltabs and nails (hey I'm still learning tones) I found GOLD ! or at least I thought it was..... The small roundish tree looking I think lapel pin turned out to be plated. It shone like crazy but corrosion of the base metal showed it was aluminum or zinc under the gold plating. But what can I say, I'm hooked ! The first heart flutter happened the microsecond I saw the glint of possible gold. I think this is the closest feeling to doing drugs as I've gotten, and I'm hooked ! Can't wait till the next time I get to hit that same old park. Seems it's the oldest park in our city dating back to 1929. But unfortunately the grass is new, the landscape and topsoil are new so I try to hit the bare dirt for best chance of undisturbed old dirt. Can't wait to hit something cool like old coins, jewelry, some relic from the 30's. But I seem to like the t2 at least as much as my exp se pro maybe more !

Better to be hooked on hunting than drugs.Sounds like you are having alot of fun. There is a coin popping or retrieving coins with a screw driver vid. on you tube you might find helpful to work thoses grassy spots without damaging the grass.I am just now learning how to do it,Lots of luck to ya.HH:detecting:

Metalfun, I drag with me a standard two handed pointy shovel. One stab down then pry the grass up in one fluid quick motion. Ok, so im kidding. I have a lesche digger and am very low key about it. Actually I currently limit my digging to bare ground or woodchip areas till im more comfortable and skilled at not damaging grass unduly. Also easing into understanding the local tolerance for digging. I don't want to give the natives reason to be concerned about my metal detecting activities.

Thanks for the tips though, definitely worth checking those videos to make less mistakes. I'm having lots of fun with my new hobby ! Cheaper (in the long run) and healthier than smoking, drinking or many other vices. :)
