New to this Forum - are these x-terra detectors .....

EasySwing

I am looking for a inexpensive detector ie under 800 dollars to take to the beach both for shallow salt water and wet/dry sand detecting. Are any of these waterproof? The detector is for a beginner, a woman and must be light for her to swing. It will be used in the Bahamas. I would like a perhaps a multi-frequency with iron mask. Do any of the X-terra's fit somewhat these qualifications? Thanks.
Marty

Sorry Marty. The Xterra is light, and would be fine on the dry sand. But not being a multi-freq or waterproof, it really isn't the best choice for what you intend.
In your price range there really isn't much that fits the bill. Try looking for a used Fisher CZ20/21, or a used Excalibur, as they occasionally can be had for what you want to spend, and would be much more appropriate.

The Xterras are great in the dry sand but do not do well in wet sand. And the meter is not water proof. Some of the coils are but not the meter. For dry land though they are great.
