Hi guys
New to the forum but have been detecting for a couple of years. Started with Garrett Ace 150 and have recently purchased a Fisher F5. I love my F5 but I'm still getting used to it.

I managed to correct the high tone over rusted iron problem by running discrimination between 3-5 so I was pleased with that, but it left me questioning the notch and discrimination altogether? If I notched out iron or manually discriminate any higher than 10-15 I would get a high tone over rusted iron.

I have been thinking of buying another coil, I don't think I want the 11" DD, can anybody comment on the 13"ultimate for the F5?..... And does anybody know if it might cure the high tone over rusted iron problem, allowing you to fully utilise the notch and discrimination features?......or is that a software thing?

I've read some of Mike Hillis posts which are really very informative and will try out some of his little tips, I love the enhanced audio post!

I've had a few decent finds, hammered and silver coins, musket and minie balls, bla, bla, bla.

If anybody has good information on a new coil, I would love to hear it, certainly about the 13" ultimate

Go to the search engine and type in Mike Hillis as he posts a wealth of info on the F5....Sorry more of a stock coil kind of guy so can't answer your questions...

Thanks very much guys, it's great to be here.

I was out today for a couple of hours and tried one of Mike Hillis's little tips, had a good day for finds but 12 of them were copper coins which were too far gone to get excited about! ......and just to top it off, found a lovely little musket ball, several lumps of lead and an unidentified something!:surrender:
If you find anything exciting is there a place to upload photos?
